Browsers and Web Design

One of the number one rules of web design is to always test your website in multiple browsers to ensure consistency!
Have you ever noticed that your website layout changes slightly when viewed on someone else’s computer?
This is a common theme in web design, which is why the best in the business compose their websites to be compatible with all major browsers and operating systems.
The reason this happens is because each company’s browser is written from original code with the intention of following certain standards of web design.
It’s tough to get them all to line up perfectly in the way that they render web pages, so we just have to be careful in the way that we format things when building our websites.

Hard to know if this should be here or in my computer blog  :-)
I don't do enough Web Design anymore to warrent a blog for Web Design all by itself!!

Fort Proctor

 Fort Proctor.jpg
Fort Proctor is a ruined 19th century fort in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, USA. Also known as Fort Beauregard or Beauregard's Castle (after P.G.T. Beauregard, who supervised its construction with the architect J.G. Totten) it is located on the shore of Lake Borgne just north of the mouth of Bayou Yscloskey. At the time it was built in the 1850s, there was also a railroad port called "Proctorville" adjacent.
The fort was intended to be part of the fortifications protecting water routes towards New Orleans. In 1814, the British Army had attacked New Orleans after their navy advanced up Lake Borgne and defeating a small flotilla of gunboats belonging to the New Orleans Squadron of the U.S. Navy, in the Battle of Lake Borgne.
Due to delays caused by hurricane damage, and then the outbreak of the American Civil War, the fort was never garrisoned. By the end of the Civil War, improvements in artillery had made the fort's design obsolete.
